On April 14th, Shudao Group reported that the control project of the new Sichuan Chongqing Provincial Expressway and the Kaijiang Liangping Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the "Kailiang Expressway") - the right tunnel of the Mingyueshan Tunnel - has been completed, laying a solid foundation for the opening of the entire line by the end of the year.
The Mingyueshan Tunnel is the only tunnel in Sichuan Province of the Kailiang Expressway, located in Kaijiang County, Dazhou City. It adopts a separated double tunnel layout and is about 1.8 kilometers long. It is a micro gas tunnel with adverse geological conditions such as ancient landslides. The project adopts technologies such as advanced geological prediction and dynamic adjustment of excavation methods through monitoring and measurement, to achieve a "safe zero accident" connection while ensuring safety and quality.
Kailiang Expressway is an important provincial corridor that strengthens the interconnection and connectivity of the adjacent areas of the Chengdu Chongqing Double City Economic Circle and promotes the integrated development of the Wanda Kaikai region. It is also the first provincial expressway jointly constructed by Sichuan and Chongqing since Chongqing was directly under the central government, and began construction at the end of 2020. The project has a total length of approximately 75 kilometers and is constructed using the standard of a two-way 4-lane highway, with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Among them, the Sichuan section is about 30 kilometers long and aims to be completed and opened to traffic within the year.
The reporter learned from the Department of Transportation that the Kailiang Expressway is advancing synchronously in planning, construction, and overall planning, striving to complete and open the Sichuan and Chongqing sections simultaneously. This means that there is a possibility of adding a major expressway between Sichuan and Chongqing provinces within the year.
After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will radiate to more than 20 townships in Kaijiang County, Dachuan District, Sichuan, and Liangping District, Chongqing, covering an area of approximately 2500 square kilometers, benefiting more than 1.5 million people, greatly improving the transportation environment along the line and promoting the development of ecological tourism industry.
